Devils Lake Airbnb Wedding in Lincoln City, Oregon | Derek & Becky’s Rainy Wedding Celebration

Derek & Becky's wedding on Devils Lake in Lincoln City, Oregon had unexpected rain, but it didn't stop their wedding day.

When I first met Becky, it was early in July of 2024 and she was reaching out to inquire about her wedding in June of 2025. We instantly clicked over personal hobbies, but what really connected us was my work as a wedding photographer on the Oregon Coast. She was planning a small Airbnb wedding at Devils Lake in Lincoln City, Oregon and loved how I have captured my coastal sessions in Lincoln City. So, from there, we planned out all of the details of her day.

A week before her wedding, she had emailed me to tell me that the day may have rain, but they weren't going to let it ruin their day. As a bride getting married in September and actively planning my own wedding, I totally understood that you have to go with the flow-but the stress of rain on your wedding day is a nightmare every bride fears, along with so many other things.

Then, came the day and it was raining. Right as I crossed over the pass from Corvallis to the coast, the sky became gloomy and the clouds let loose, downpouring on everything in the area. The rain didn't stop Becky, Derek, and their family from having the wedding of their dreams. Throughout the day, we would dash outside to capture quick, fleeting moments while it was raining before rushing back inside to avoid the downpour.

Getting Ready

I had the absolute honor to capture Becky's getting ready photos with her bridal party and most important ladies. From getting ready in their pajamas to Becky getting in her dress with her mom to stepping out onto the balcony above the ceremony spot, the excitement that bubbled up from everyone was seriously so beautiful.

While Becky was getting ready with her ladies, Derek got ready to see Becky for the first time with the help of his mom putting on his boutonniere. It was such a sweet moment that felt grounded in love and anticipation for the day ahead.

First Touch with Jell-O Shots

Derek & Becky's first touch was inside to avoid the rain. On each side of the wall, they held hands, shared a few laughs and words before sharing in Jell-O shots.

The Ceremony

Before the rain started up again, Derek & Becky decided to start the ceremony early. I headed out to the spot, which was on a dock on Devils Lake, and positioned myself ready for Derek and Becky to walk down and capture such an important moment in their day. Derek walked down past guests anticipating seeing Becky for the first time. Then Becky emerged from the house with her father, while Derek had his back to the house staring out at the lake. Stepping onto the dock, Derek turned and saw her for the first time.

They exchanged rings and vows on a dock in Devils Lake before the clouds let loose once again and started to downpour. They shared their first kiss in the rain and headed up the dock to celebrate.

The Reception

Surrounded by friends and family, they celebrated tying the knot, excited that they were starting a new and beautiful chapter in their lives. Friends and family gathered outside overlooking Devils Lake around a fire pit to share a few laughs and enjoy drinks.
